El planeta podría encontrarse este jueves libre de la enfermedad del virus del Ébola si la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) declara ese día que Liberia ha superado la transmisión persona a persona del virus, después de que así lo hiciera el pasado 7 de noviembre con Sierra Leona y el 28 de diciembre con Guinea. Se trata de los tres países más afectados por el brote surgido en febrero de 2014.

Conakry, 2015, Décember 29 – Today, the 29th of December, it’s been forty-two days since the newborn and last confirmed case of Ebola, was released cured from the Ebola treatment unit of Nongo, in Conakry. The body of this heroic little girl overcame the disease, helped by the treatment administered thanks to a very dedicated and professional team.
The criterion established by the World Health Organization to declare the end of any known transmission of Ebola virus is met in Guinea.
The outbreak of Ebola haemorrhagic fever in Guinea is over.

Geneva, 29 December 2015 – Today the World Health Organization (WHO) declares the end of Ebola virus transmission in the Republic of Guinea. Forty-two days have passed since the last person confirmed to have Ebola virus disease tested negative for the second time. Guinea now enters a 90-day period of heightened surveillance to ensure that any new cases are identified quickly before they can spread to other people. Guinea cumple este martes el plazo preceptivo de 42 días desde el último caso para ser considerado un país libre de Ébola. Este fue el de un bebé, el primero en sobrevivir a la enfermedad. Sierra Leona ya llegó a esta situación el 7 de noviembre. Read more on Guinea queda libre de Ébola…

MONROVIA, 11 Dic. – Más de 160 personas puestas bajo cuarentena en Liberia por estar en contacto con enfermos de Ébola han concluido este viernes el periodo de vigilancia, lo que sitúa al país africano más afectado por la epidemia un paso más cerca de la eliminación.
